The phone scams have started again....

Normally the company says they are Microsoft, or a Microsoft partner. The person on the other end of the phone tends to be either Asian or Chinese in origin and they will inform you that they have been told your computer is running slow or is infected with a virus *and* they can prove it! They will then show you a normal windows log file that NORMALLY has errors...They will then get you to go to their website where they will take control of your computer and supposedly fix it. They will either ask for your credit card details or try and get you to sign up for a maintenance contract at silly prices.

So, if they phone...  tell them you don't have a computer.

Do a search in www.google.com for the words  “microsoft phone scam” and read all about it.

Happy computing.
